Lover’s Leap
Located less than 20 miles west of South Lake Tahoe, Lover’s Leap is over a half mile across and up to 600 feet tall. Lover’s Leap is a great multi-pitch area for all experience levels. People from all over the world come to climb Lover’s Leap and this well featured cliff makes even the steepest routes climbable. Lover’s Leap is located in Strawberry CA, and is the home of Lover’s Leap Guides, a locally owned and operated climbing company.
Classic Climbs on the East Wall of Lover’s Leap include: Haystack 5.8, Fantasia 5.9, Scimitar 5.9, East Cracks 5.8, Bears Reach 5.7, and The Line 5.9. On the Main Wall of Lover’s Leap, you will find classic climbing routes like Traveler Buttress 5.9, Corrugation Corner 5.7, The North Face of Lover’s Leap 5.11a, Rockabillie 5.11d, Absolutely Billie 10d, Hospital Corner 5.10a, April Fools 5.9 and Craven Image 5.7. On Lower Buttress of Lover’s Leap classic climbing routes are Surrealistic Pillar 5.7and the Direct of Surrealistic Pillar 5.10-, Sinbad-Herbert 5.10d, The Groove 5.8, The Farce 5.5, Blue Wind 5.10a, Pillar of Society 5.12a, and A Boy and His Arete 5.11a.
On the Hogsback, which is the smaller dome-like formation across from Lover’s Leap, you will find lower angle climbing and classics such as: Knapsack Crack 5.5, Deception 5.6, Harvey Wall Bangers 5.7, Better with Bacon 5.8, Ham and Cheese 5.6, Hogwild 5.7, and Accessory Dogs 5.10a.
